💡 Tip: GIFs get big fast. For sharing in chats keep the width at 480 px, or save as MP4 — it is often 5–10× smaller and every messaging app plays it on a loop.
Each GIF is decoded frame by frame on your device, with its original timing and transparency handling (GIF “disposal” rules) respected, so nothing flickers or leaves ghost frames. The frames are then drawn onto one canvas and re-encoded with a fresh 256-colour palette per frame, which keeps colours clean even when the GIFs came from different sources.
GIF is the universal format for forums, docs and old apps, but it only has 256 colours per frame and no real compression. MP4 looks the same (better, really) at a fraction of the size, and WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, X and Discord all loop it like a GIF. If your GIF comes out over ~8 MB, try MP4, a smaller width, or 128 colours.
